چکیده

Diffusion of molecules in brain and other tissues is important in a wide range of biological processes, such as the delivery of drugs, and for measurements, such as diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging. The time-dependent diffusion coefficient D(t) of mobile molecules confined in pores or cells carries information about the confining geometry. At early times, D(t) gives, irrespective of details, the pore surface to volume ratio (S/Vp), and the cellwall permeability κ . At long times, D(t) reaches a limiting value D0/α, where tortuosity α is a characteristic of the geometry of the medium.

Estimation of Tissue Microstructure Using a Deep Network Inspired by a Sparse Reconstruction Framework

Diffusion magnetic resonance imaging (dMRI) provides a unique tool for noninvasively probing the microstructure of the neuronal tissue. The NODDI model has been a popular approach to the estimation of tissue microstructure in many neuroscience studies. It represents the diffusion signals with three types of diffusion in tissue: intra-cellular, extra-cellular, and cerebrospinal fluid compartment...

Diffusion - Tensor Mr Imaging Fundamentals C

It is remarkable that the MR measurement of the diffu sivity of water in neural tissue provides unique and useful biological and clinical information about tissue composition, the physical properties of its constituents, tissue microstructure, and architectural organization. Moreover, this information can be obtained in vivo, noninvasively without contrast agents. This chapter deals with diffu...

Model-based super-resolution of diffusion MRI for microstructure imaging

PURPOSE This work develops a super-resolution reconstruction (SRR) technique that constructs isotropic high-resolution (HR) diffusion-weighted images (DWI) from multiple anisotropic lowresolution (LR) acquisitions (Fig 1). Isotropic HR DWIs enable the mapping of tissue microstructure for fine brain structures, such as the subfields of hippocampus. Direct acquisition of such images require prohi...

Effect of diffusion bonding temperature on microstructure properties of Zr/Ti interlayer in the diffusion bonded joints of Zr702 to A516 steel

In this study, the effect of temperature on the microstructure and reactive layer at the interface between the Ti interlayer and the base metal related to the diffusion bonding of Zr702 to A516 low alloy steel was investigated. The joining was done using the spark plasma sintering technique at temperatures of 900, 950 and 1000°C for 30 minutes. Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM...

Effects of White Matter Microstructure on Phase and Susceptibility Maps

PURPOSE To investigate the effects on quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM) and susceptibility tensor imaging (STI) of the frequency variation produced by the microstructure of white matter (WM). METHODS The frequency offsets in a WM tissue sample that are not explained by the effect of bulk isotropic or anisotropic magnetic susceptibility, but rather result from the local microstructure,...
